A MALVERN supermarket has done its bit to help the launch of a new children's clothing exchange in the town.

The Octagon Children's Clothing and Footwear Exchange opened its doors for the first time last Thursday, January 20, at the Octagon Centre, Brook Farm Drive.

It is the brainchild of Martin Lawrence, one of the centre's trustees, who is also a town councillor.

And Steve Guoite, the manager of Morrisons in Townsend Way, has donated clothing worth £45 to help the exchange get off the ground.

Mr Lawrence said: "The gift of clothing toward our launch stock will make a real difference, a wonderful gesture; all we need now is young parents to come and look, then spread the word about a great money-free way to meet, chat and pick up freebies. I was absolutely delighted that Morrisons were able to make this donation."

Mr Guoite said: "The clothes exchange is a great idea and we're glad to be able to do our bit to help make it a success."

The exchange is being held every Thursday between 1pm and 2.30pm. Tea, coffee, chocolate and soft drinks are free.
