THOUSANDS of pounds worth of footwear have been stolen during a burglary at a Worcestershire store.

The Offenders got on to the roof of Shoe Zone, in Vicar Street, Kidderminster, and prised a cover off a trap door, gaining entry to the stock room and then entered the shopfloor.

Handbags and numerous pairs of footwear were stolen, and the offenders also tried to break into the safe but were unable to do so.

They also stole a kettle, toaster and microwave before leaving through the rear fire exit which opens on to the loading area.

It is not yet known how many items were stolen or what the value is but the total is expected to be thousands of pounds.

Damage of £100 was caused to an office door and £50 damage to the roof.

PC Rebecca Smith, of West Mercia Police, said: "Shoe Zone will be conducting an audit to establish exactly what was stolen. However we do know that among the goods taken were a quantity of handbags, wellington boots and children’s slippers.

“The offenders used black rubbish sacks to carry away the stolen shoes and bags. Given the quantity of what was stolen, it is likely they had access to a vehicle."

Anyone with information into the burglary, which happened between 4pm on Sunday, February 2, and 8.30am on Monday, February 3, is asked to call 101.
