A TEAM of kind-hearted employees are putting their passion for cycling and fundraising to the test in a bid to raise thousands for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The group of nine cyclists from SMH Fleet Solutions in Norton, near Worcester, are planning to raise the cash by setting up their own cycle from London to Paris where the riders will cover 183 miles in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team will set off from the London eye on June 15, and will pedal for four days reaching the French capital at the Eiffel tower on June 18.

The employees hope to raise £2,500, which will then be doubled by the company, making a fundraising total target of £5,000.

SMH have supported Macmillan for four years, raising a huge £55,000 since the partnership began.

The company have set a target of reaching £100,000 for Macmillan and local charities this year and the London to Paris event will contribute to the Macmillan total.

Martin McAuley, managing director and a rider in the event, said: "This is a really exciting event for SMH's fundraising calendar.

"It's by far the biggest event we've organised and I'm sure it will be a massive success.

"The Directors of SMH are very supportive of Macmillan and the work they do and we’re confident we will reach the £100k charity target this year."
