AN intrepid duo plan to plunge into icy water and tackle more than 30km of muddy terrain as part of the Icebreaker challenge all in aid of Sight Concern Worcestershire.

Matthew Fitzgerald and Shaun Paczkowski, who work for BT Local Business, will take part in the Icebreaker on the Eastnor Estate, near Ledbury, this Sunday.

The pair decided they wanted to raise money for Sight Concern and opted to take on the 10 kilometre run through a hilly and very muddy landrover course, 20km of off road mountain biking and 3km run around the castle lake finishing in the castle courtyard.

The Icebreaker challenge will take Mr Fitzgerald and Mr Paczkowski about three to five hours to complete in the cold and wet through mud and streams.

Mr Fitzgerald said: "We’re looking forward to attempting the challenge to raise funds for Sight Concern and we hope that people will support us and donate to a very worthy cause."

Mr Paczkowski added: "Six months ago this sounded like a great idea, now with less than two weeks to go panic is setting in. We have no time to train now, it’s all about survival."
