A CONSERVATION charity is inviting love-struck romantics to invest in their very own love nest this Valentine's Day.

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust believes its "virtual gift" of a nature reserve nest box is perfect for nature-loving partners across the county.

Love birds can "rent" a box for a year, with their donation helping to increase nesting sites and boost the chances of birds breeding successfully.

Becky Bradshaw-King, scheme co-ordinator, said “National Nest Box Week starts this year on Valentine’s Day for good reason.

"Just like us, the bird world is starting to think of spring and birds will be starting to look for a suitable place to cosy up before raising a family.

“Renting a nest on one of our nature reserves is a perfect present to show a loved one how much you care about them as well as our wildlife."

For £10, people can rent a box at one of four county nature reserves - Lower Smite Farm, near Worcester, Tiddesley Wood, in Pershore, The Knapp and Papermill, in Alfrick Pound, near Malvern or Knowles Coppice, in Bewdley.

The donation includes a card to give to your loved one and an extra £5 buys a place at a special event later in the spring where you can view your nest box.
