HIGHER education workers in Worcester have walked out for a third day in an ongoing pay dispute.
Office workers, cleaners, porters and support staff took to the picket line at the University of Worcester's St John's Campus yesterday saying they were unhappy with a one per cent pay rise when they have effectively suffered a 13 per cent pay cut in the past five years.
Francesca Fairhurst, an assistant registrar for admissions, said: "There is money in higher education.
"We can see it in the new buildings and fancy new offices, we can see it in our Vice Chancellor's pay.
"There's more and more senior staff being appointed but for the people on the ground doing the work, they think one per cent is adequate and I'm afraid it isn't.
"We would like to see some of the money sloshing around in higher education going to the people that make it happen."
Nationwide, members from UNISON, UCU, Unite and EIS unions all took part.
