A WOMAN who was marooned at her home in Kempsey made the decision to evacuate last night.

Jacky Smith of Severn Cottage, Lanes End, in Kempsey, was assisted from her house alongside her three dogs at 9.22pm by the fire service and family members.

She had been stuck in her home on the banks of the Severn, where she lives alone, since Wednesday and had been so cut off her friend and neighbour, Sue Price, could not even wade out to her in wellies.

Speaking to your Worcester News on Friday the 57-year-old said: "I am marooned. The flooding has got a lot worse since they put the pumps in. The neighbours have also had to put sandbags at the gate."

Today the fire service said Jacky Smith had made the decision to self evacuate and they simply helped her over her flood defences and then isolated the electrics.
