THE very best of brass musicians will appear live in concert next month as a competitive festival expands.

Wychavon Festival of Brass, with the support of Droitwich Town Council, presents the reigning Midlands Brass Band Champions, the Jaguar Land Rover Band complete with trombone player Brett Baker, at the Norbury Theatre, Droitwich, on Saturday, March 29 from 7.30pm.

Festival organisers hope it will become an annual event featuring top bands and brass players from across the region and beyond.

This year's edition of the festival at Evesham High School will take place on the new date of Saturday, November 1 and the winners of the championship section will be invited to compete at the 2015 senior trophy competition of the British Open Championship at the Spring Festival in Blackpool.

Festival secretary, Kevin Whittaker, said: "It is sure to give an extra incentive to competitors, as the invitation will be given to the highest placed band not already competing at the Senior Trophy at the Spring Festival in Blackpool."

Tickets for the concert are £12 and available from the theatre's box office on 01905 770154 or norburytheatre.co.uk.
