A RETIRED healthcare worker is helping patients at a Herefordshire hospital have their say on the quality of service they have received.

After recently being treated at Bromyard Community Hospital Ann Popplewell decided to volunteer to help gather feedback on patient’s experiences.

The feedback is used as part of the Friends and Family Test, a government initiative monitoring patient experiences across the country.

Ann said: “I received excellent care as a patient at Bromyard Community Hospital and being relatively new to the area I wanted to give something back, and this was a great opportunity to be able to help patients who live in my local community”.

Every single patient who has given feedback over the last two months has said they would be extremely likely or likely to recommend Bromyard Community Hospital to their friends and family.

Sister at the hospital Sandra Mahner said: “We’re very fortunate to have Ann’s help as a volunteer as well her experience as a patient and this patient feedback helps us to recognise good practice and make changes where standards needs to be improved.

“Feedback from patients so far has been very positive and shows that the care we are providing is of a quality we would want for our family and friends.

“We will continue to monitor, evaluate, and act on this to enhance the service we provide for our patients”.
