A MAN was spotted on CCTV attempting to steal two bottles of champagne and toiletries from a shop in Upton last week.

The man was seen in the Co-Operative store in Old Street, Upton, at about 2.45pm on Tuesday, February 25 taking the items and leaving the store without attempting to pay.

He was stopped outside the shop but nothing was found in his bag. A witness said they believed he had been dropped off in the town in a white van.

The man is described as white, in his early to mid 40’s about four foot nine inches tall and had short, cropped dark hair with stubble and either a spot or a scab on his lower lip and chin.

He was wearing a green or brown flat cap, a double button, long sleeve white jacket, blue jeans and brown shoes and was carrying a dark brown man’s bag.
