A PERSHORE-based barbershop chorus is celebrating after picking up their first trophy of the year.
Vale Harmony Barbershop Chorus was awarded The Simpson Trophy in the Adult Choir category at the Dudley Festival of Music, Drama and Dance on Saturday.
The capella close harmony male chorus impressed with the Burt Kalmar and Harry Ruby song “Nevertheless”, the Greg Hoeltzel classic “Old Saint Louie”, and Brian Wilson and Gary Usher's " In My Room".
Adjudicator Andrea Calladine gave them a Distinction for their harmonious blend of voices which she said was "as smooth as chocolate".
Vale Harmony's Musical Director, Chris Hartwright, of Tibberton, said: "The chorus performed really well showing their ability to sing, not only with humour and fun, but with sensitivity and care.
"Their control in the quiet sections not an easy thing to achieve, provided an emotive contrast in each of the songs."
The chorus, which meets every Wednesday in Fladbury, will be performing again on Saturday, March 15 in the Worcestershire Competitive Arts Festival, defending their title of Best Adult Choir.
