WORKERS from three pharmacies in Worcester have raised more than £800 for the British Heart Foundation.

Ten workers from Scales Pharmacy, which has branches in Upper Tything, Ronkswood and Astwood Road, raised the money by walking six miles along a canal.

They had originally intended to walk a five-mile route on the Malvern Hills but changed their plans because of recent flooding.

Hayley Marshall, a dispenser at the Upper Tything pharmacy, said: "There was a change because one of our pharmacists went up before our planned walk and it was flooded.

"We did an extra mile, starting from the canal in Barbourne and went to Fernhill Heath and back.

"We managed to raise a total of £804.90.

"It was a lot more than we thought and the money is still coming in."

She said the group may revisit the Malvern Hills walk at a later date and some also had plans to take part in the Race for Life in the summer.
