A LEGENDARY jazz saxophonist is the latest high-profile guest of a Faithful City club.

Art Themen has played with all the greats and he comes to the next Worcester Jazz night at the Barbourne Ex-Services Club, the Moors, on Friday, March 14, when he will be joined by Keith Bill on keyboards, Tom Hill on bass and drummer Gary Randall.

The former consultant orthopaedic surgeon was involved in the blues scene during his younger days and worked with the likes of Alexis Korner, Rod Stewart and Joe Cocker.

In the 1974 he began a long and continuing association with pianist Stan Tracey, playing in all his various groups and touring with Tracey and many of the foremost American musicians.

The organisers say it shows their commitment to promoting an excellent quality of jazz which is normally the preserve of some of the bigger clubs in the country.

Doors open at 7pm and music starts at 8pm, with tickets priced at £10 or £9 for members on the door.
