Hospitals in Worcestershire rated among the safest and highest-quality in the country

HOSPITALS in Worcestershire have again been rated as some of the safest and most high-quality in the country.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) this week published its Intelligent Monitoring Report, comparing the safety and quality of care at hospitals across the country, and placed Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in band six – the group for those which provide the lowest risk for patients.

This is the second time the trust – which runs Worcestershire Acute Hospital, Kidderminster Hospital and Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital – has been placed in the lowest band.

Trust chairman Harry Turner said he was delighted by the result.

“This is testament to the hard work of our staff to maintain focus on quality and safety for our patients,” he said.

“However, we are not complacent and we continue to focus all of our efforts on improving the quality and safety of our services.”

The report brings together information from more than 150 performance indicators at 161 acute NHS trusts and is based on statistical analysis, patient surveys and staff feedback.

The study was carried out as part of the CQC’s hospital inspection regime, which will see every trust inspected in 2015. Those which are rated as posing the greatest risk will be prioritised for inspection while those in the lowest bands will be inspected later in the process.

I went into the Alex in Redditch on 7th March for a knee replacement.

All the staff from the surgeon who operated through to the excellent nursing care and the ward cleaners were absolutely fantastic . Nothing was to much trouble for any body.

Thank you all very much.
