A GROUP of sixth form students from the King’s School have taken on an enterprising challenge that will see them working towards getting hired not fired and all in the aid of charity.

The Eye-prentice Challenge follows the pattern of the BBC's Apprentice, in introducing the next generation of entrepreneurs to a business focussed project.

In aid of Sight Concern Worcestershire, the local charity supporting blind and partially sighted people, the King’s School students are planning a Climbathon event in order to raise money.

The event is planned for Sunday, March 30, from 10am to 5pm and takes place at the Vertical Limit centre on Shrub Hill Road in Worcester.

The students are now looking for willing climbers to take on a variety of walls to see if they can reach the equivalent height of Mount Kilimanjaro in one day.

Lucy Tolladay, one of the eight students organising the event, said: "We have been arranging it on our own to raise money for Sight Concern. We are hoping the day will be a real family event, especially as it's taking place on Mother's Day.

"We will be trying to raise as much as possible on the day."

Sight Concern’s Fundraising Officer Keith Hoare added: “This project has been an exciting way of combining fundraising with the development of practical and strategic business skills in students. If you are looking for a challenge yourself please contact the student team and sign up for the climbathon.”

The entry fee per climber is £3 and whoever raises the highest sponsorship money will receive ten free paintballing tickets.

There’s also an opportunity to sponsor the event yourself on our donation page online at everyclick.com/sightconcern-kswclimbathon.
