A MAN who died after he was hit by a car in Pershore on Friday night has been named locally as Wayne Palfrey.

The incident took place just before 10.50pm on the B4084 Worcester Road in the town.

Mr Palfrey's family are believed to be in shock about his death and will be paying tribute to him in the coming days.

At the time of the incident an ambulance crew, a paramedic officer, a paramedic in a rapid response car together with the Medical Emergency Response Incident Team (MERIT) treated the patient.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Ambulance crews arrived to find a pedestrian had been in collision with a car. A man, believed to be in his fifties, was treated for serious head and internal injuries."

The patient was was anaesthetised by a doctor and immobilised before being conveyed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, but subsequently died.
