A NUMBER of roles are available at audition in an ensemble piece.

The Accrington Pals by Peter Whelan will be the final production of Malvern Theatre Players' 37th season as the resident company of Malvern Theatres and it will be their contribution to the events recognising the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.

It will be staged at the Coach House Theatre, Grange Road, from Monday to Saturday, July 14-19 and open auditions will be held at the same venue on Tuesday and Thursday, April 1 and 3 at 7.30pm.

The play is set on the eve of the First World War as the young men of Accrington hear General Kitchener’s call for a new army and it becomes the smallest town in England to raise a Pals Volunteer Brigade

It requires a number of young men and women aged between 18 and 22 together with some middle-aged characters.

Funny, intimate and moving, the play charts the fortunes of a close-knit community on the brink of change.
