A SENIOR NHS boss dug deep to plant a new tree at a Worcester hospice to mark an annual event encouraging people to be more environmentally-conscious.

Non-executive director with NHS England Dame Moira Gibb visited the new extension at St Richard’s Hospice on Thursday, March 28 to plant the magnolia tree to mark the organisation’s third annual sustainability day.

The NHS England event works to encourage people to work to reduce their carbon footprint.

St Richard’s Hospice chief executive Mark Jackson said: “I would like to thank our partners in the NHS for the donation of the tree.

“Our garden and grounds are much loved by our patients, visitors, volunteers and staff throughout the seasons and the magnolia will be a lovely addition.”
