RESIDENTS at a Worcester care home can enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake at a new garden cafe.

Staff at the Cranham Residential Care home in Cranham Drive revamped a room overlooking the gardens to create a new cafe where residents can mix with their neighbours.

One of the most senior residents of the Sanctuary Care home, 99-year-old Nora Harris, welcomed the new cafe.

“The room is absolutely lovely and they’ve decorated it very nicely," she said. "I think it’s such a good idea to have a café at the home.”

Worcester City Councillor for Warndon Cllr Jo Hodges opened the new cafe on Friday, March 28. She said: “I’m really honoured that the team at Cranham asked me here to open their café.

"It’s a truly lovely, welcoming area where residents and local people can meet together.”

The home’s manager Cindy Hawkins said: “We are part of a thriving close knit community here and are really looking forward to becoming a hub where people from can pop in for a chat over a cuppa and cake.”

The cafe is open from 2pm until 4pm every Tuesday and Thursday and is open to the public as well as residents of the care home.
