POLICE have seen an increase in "sneak" offences in Worcester, including the theft of a personalised BMW.

Jamie Francis, a detective sergeant for Proactive CID based in Worcester, warned people to ensure doors and windows were locked at night and that external doors are locked, even when people are in their homes.

He said: "We have seen an increase in 'sneak in' type offences in the past week. We have had three in the St Johns area of Worcester and one overnight last night (Sunday night) in Evesham. We currently have a male in custody at Worcester for a 'sneak in' burglary in Foley Road St Johns yesterday (Sunday) A burglary occurred at around 3am today at an address in Farndale Avenue, Warndon Villages, Worcester."

A distinctive white BMW M3 with a personalised registration plate was stolen. Entry was gained to the property by forcing a rear door lock and the car keys stolen. The stolen vehicle was recovered cashed near Aston Fields Bromsgrove just after 6am yesterday (Monday)

DS Francis said: "I am appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Farndale Avenue area in the ealry hours of this morning to contact us. I am also appealing for anyone who may have seen the white BMW being driven between Worcester and Bromsgrove to get in touch."

The reference for this burglary is 47s 310314.

Car owners are reminded to ensure car keys are not on view or hung up near doors etc.
