A free family event themed around chocolate is expected to tempt thousands of visitors and locals to Worcester city centre this Saturday.

The return of Worcester’s Chocolate Day will see a host of chocolate-related activities for young and old to indulge in including free truffle making, a chocolate fashion show, a chocolate egg and spoon race, free face painting, cookery demonstrations and magic.

More than 75 businesses in Worcester have agreed to take part in the day with chocolate trails, games like guess the number of chocolates in the jar and a series of offers and promotions.

On street entertainment includes a colour in the egg competition, Worcester Ukelele Club, Dancing Eggs, cookery demonstrations from professional chef Mark Lloyd, Living Statues and a close up magician Wonky Wonka.

The event has been organised by Worcester Business Improvement District (BID).

Nadja von Dahlen, Worcester BID’s marketing and events officer, said: "There is a great vibe in the city as we look forward to what should be an indulgent day for all ages to enjoy.

"Businesses have really gone to town in getting involved in the event and anyone who visits is sure to have a fantastic day with the sheer variety of activities taking place, all with a chocolate theme.

"We have 51 businesses who are offering discounts and offers such as free chocolates with every purchase, 10 per cent off chocolate coloured hair shades and free hot chocolate tasting.

"Our cookery demonstrations are also set to tempt people too with the opportunity to learn how to make a chocolate fondant as well as finding out the secret of making the perfect Easter egg."

Among the businesses taking part in the event is The Body Shop in Chapel Walk which is offering a free chocolate goodie bag and a £3 off voucher with every purchase.

Store manager, Louise Symonds said: "We took part in the previous Worcester BID Chocolate Day a few years ago and trade was phenomenal.

"We can’t wait for this year’s event and we know that anyone who comes into the city centre on Saturday will have a great time."
