MISS England competitors will be given a work out by a military fitness camp started in a Worcestershire village.

Xtreme Boot Camps, which is based in Throckmorton and runs camps in Evesham, Worcester, Upton and Chipping Norton, was named as the official boot camp for Miss England 2014.

It will be putting the contestants from around the country through their paces during the last two stages of the competition.

The fitness levels of the 80 women will be tested at the semi finals of Miss England on Monday, May 19, at Kelham Hall and Country Park and a sports woman will be declared the winner at each event with the overall victor being fast-tracked to the final.

The final then takes place over a testing three days at the Riviera Centre in Torquay with a second boot camp held on Saturday, June 14, for a further 60 competitors.

The winner of Miss England 2014 will be announced at a gala evening held on Monday, June 16.

James Evans, co-founder of Xtreme Boot Camps, said: "It’s such an honour for Xtreme Boot Camps to be named as Official Fitness Trainer for such a prestigious and nationally recognised event.

"The fitness tests will be like no other the contestants have previously experienced, but they will be genuinely surprised at what they will physically achieve. They'll certainly be in excellent shape for the rest of the judging process.

"We will test the contestants not just physically but for mental toughness too. Xtreme Boot Camps instructors are all serving or ex-military personnel, fitness qualified to at least Level 3, and we’ll be using tried and tested military training techniques.

"The winner of the semi-final will be fast-tracked through to the final, so it’s a huge responsibility for Xtreme Boot Camps to find a deserving winner."

Angie Beasley, director of Miss England, added: "We were very impressed with the Xtreme Boot Camps training ethos and how the team intends to put 140 hopefuls through a boot camp fitness experience that they will benefit hugely from."
