THE blues sounds of a Malvern-based band are once again in the running for some prestigious awards.

BabaJack, who are based around the talents of Becky Tate and Trevor Steger, already find themselves nominated for a brace of titles at the British Blues Awards 2014, with more categories still be to announced.

Becky has been nominated for Instrumentalist of the Year 2014 which she has twice won in 2013 and 2012, so it could be the hat-trick for the singer who combines roots, funk and African rhythms with her vocals.

The band, who are completed by Tosh Murase on drums and bassist Adam Bertenshaw, are also finalists in the Best Acoustic Act 2014 and it is the third year running they have reached this stage as well.

The 2014 British Blues Awards presentation will be held on the British Stage at the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival in Colne, Lancashire, on Sunday, August 24.

It will also be the 25th anniversary of the festival.
