AN open day will usher in the new visitor season at Stourport’s historic canal basins.

Enjoy a wide range of activities on Easter Monday, April 21, including the town costume guided walk at 12.30pm which will teach people about the history of Stourport and the canal basins or stroll around the features of the canal basins at 3.30pm.

Both walks start at the Tontine Stable Heritage Room, next to the Windlass Cafe Restaurant.

The Old Ticket Office Heritage Room, at York Street, and the Tontine Stable Heritage Room will be open noon to 4pm.

A free water safety session in the Tontine Garden will teach children aged five to 11 how to be safe around rivers, canals and basins at 2.30pm.

Prior to all this, on Easter Saturday, April 19, Canal and River Trust volunteers will be available at the canal basins to allow visitors to step back in time when they enter the living quarters of an authentic historic working canal boat 11am to 4pm.
