A MAN has been arrested in connection with an incident in which a teenager was sexually assaulted after leaving a Worcester nightclub last week.

The woman left Velvet Lounge in Angel Place just before 1.55am on Friday, April 11 and walked home via The Butts, Farrier Street and Cherry Tree Walk.

As she approached the railway arches at the junction with Infirmary Walk she became aware a man was following her.

He approached her and grabbed her by the hand before putting his arms around her and lifting her off her feet, causing her to fall backwards onto the ground.

He climbed on top of her, sexually assaulted her and attempted to kiss her, but because she was struggling and shouting he gave up and ran off towards Farrier Street.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in Worcester yesterday (Monday) evening and remains in custody at Worcester Police Station.
