A Worcester school has been given an award for its internationalism.

Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College received the International School Award Foundation Certificate: Introducing Internationalism.

The award recognises the Timberdine Avenue school's commitment to extending and embedding internationalism into the curriculum.

The school's principal Sean Devlin said: "Internationalism is a valuable aspect of our college’s ethos.

“There are a number of international links with institutions in France, Germany, India and Poland.

"Our latest link for which the British Council International School Award was granted was for the inter-school project with College Louis Jouvet in Gemaches in France.”

Thirty students in years eight and nine participated in an e-twinning project to celebrate European Day of Languages with 30 other schools across Europe.

Currently the students are comparing their cities and schools, blogging and creating newsletters and quizzes as part of the project. Lindsay Jones, teacher of ICT at the college, said she is now looking forward to the Intermediate Award in the future.
