CHILDREN with disabilities and complex health care needs at a Worcester charity can enjoy a new multi-sensory room thanks to a kind donation from a county charity.
The New Hope charity in Worcester unveiled its new multi-sensory, kitchen, hallway and jubilee play room in April complete with new flooring provided by Evesham based Karndean Flooring.
As part of the prize the company replaced dated carpet with its luxury floors. It joined forces with local commercial flooring partner, Worcestershire based RT Floors and recommended its Navarra Chalk Spanish pebble effect flooring and Umbrian Nero mosaic pattern flooring as the perfect solution for the specialist care facilities.
Jean Wilson, founder and director of New Hope, said: "It’s amazing to receive such a generous gift and we could not be happier with our brand new floors.
"Karndean have not just provided us with a free floor, they’ve given us a floor that meets the requirements of the children that get so much joy from spending time with us. The touch and texture of our new floors will help us engage and interact with the children.
"What’s more, being so durable and easy to clean means our staff can spend more time playing and enjoying time with the children, rather than having to worry about everyday spillages, scuffs and wear."
The finishing touches were put to the rooms at New Hope, in Wells Road, Worcester, by the company as part of its 40 Free Floors and 40 Good Causes appeal, after it received nominations on Facebook.
The appeal, launched as part of its own 40th anniversary celebrations in October last year, offers help to charities and organisations in the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
The international appeal calls on the public to nominate individuals, families, businesses and other worthy causes that they think deserve to win a free floor.
There will be 15 worthy winners chosen from the UK in total, with five handpicked by Karndean and ten selected from Facebook nominations. Six floors have already been given away but nominations for each month are still taking place.
Paul Barratt, managing director of Karndean Designflooring, said: "The fact New Hope started out three and a half years ago supporting three families and now supports over 89 is truly inspiring and a credit to Jean and her team.
"The charity is a fantastic example of the reason we decided to give back for our 40th anniversary celebrations and it’s great to see we’re making a difference.
"We’re receiving some truly inspirational nominations every month, and we encourage other organisations, businesses or individuals to put themselves forward as we still have six floors to give away in the UK."
