POLICE are appealing for information following two attempted burglaries in Bromsgrove this week.

The first occurred in King Edward Road, Sidemoor, between 8.45am on Monday, April 21 and 10.30am on Thursday, April 24.

Thieves gained access to the back garden and tried to open a wooden window frame on the ground floor and open a back door, but failed.

The second happened between at about 11.55pm on Tuesday, April 22 and 12.05am the following day in Redditch Road, Stoke Health.

Again offenders went into the back garden and tried to force open two windows and a door. They then tried to force open the front door but were scared off when the occupants turned a light on.

West Mercia Police detective constable Paul Lettis said: “Luckily both of these attempted burglaries were unsuccessful, but they demonstrate the importance of preventing access being gained to the rear of a property where possible.

“As well as securing side gates, other steps could include planting prickly shrubs along boundaries and ensuring sheds are kept secure to prevent burglars using a householder’s own tools to break in.”

Witnesses or anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting incident 140-s-240414 for the Sidemoor burglary or 208-s-230414 for the Stoke Heath incident.

Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
