TWO colleagues are hoping it will not be a dog's life when they run Worcester Half Marathon for Hounds for Heroes.

Denise Jackson and Karen Honeywood will be pulling on their trainers for the charity which provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled people from the Armed Forces and Emergency Services.

The pair work at White House Vets, Newtown Road, Malvern which hopes to raise £5,000 for the charity.

Founder Richard Chamings has already taken part in the Two Moors Way, walking 109 miles in five days, and a Doggy Fun Day will take place at Malvern Link Common on Saturday, June 22 at 2pm.

Miss Jackson, from Malvern Link, said: "I'm not a runner but I've been training since Christmas.

"I've been struggling a little bit and I am sure Karen will cross the line before me but I am determined to finish.

"I'm quite sporty, I've played netball and go to the gym but I've never done distance running before.

"Hounds for Heroes is a great charity.

"We've supported lots of different charities in the past but Hounds for Heroes is relatively new and do such great work supporting injured soldiers."

The pair have been training in the countryside and on the Malvern Hills before they line up at Sixways Stadium, Warriors Way, Worcester.
