A MAN has been interviewed by police after nine vehicles were entered win Stourport.

Officers say they are linking the offences to six others in the same part of the town since the weekend.

Property was taken from some of the vehicles, many of which were parked outside homes but left unlocked.

The criminal activity took place in Chiltern Close, Abberley Avenue, Cherry Tree Walk, Kings Arms Lane and Oak Apple Road on Tuesday night.

Nothing was stolen from some of the cars but others had property taken including sunglasses, cash and a Nokia mobile phone.

They are being linked to another six incidents between last Saturday night (26th) and Monday morning when cars were entered in Ribbesford Drive, Cranberry Drive, Hafren Way, Thirlmere Road, and The Ridgeway.

Two sat-navs, golf shoes, jeans, joggers and a USB cable were among the items stolen from those vehicles.

Following the latest offences, police received a call on Wednesday from a resident who said someone was lying in an alleyway at the back of Kings Arms Lane.

Officers attended and a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stealing from cars.

They also recovered a sat-nav and bank cards, which are believed to have been stolen.

“It may be that some people do not realise items have been taken from their cars so we would advise them to check and let us know if they find anything missing," said Sergeant Jan Shore.

“Sadly many of the vehicles which were entered had been left unlocked and this is an open invitation to thieves.

"We have Police Community Support Officers delivering leaflets at homes in the area today alerting them to these incidents and urging them to keep their vehicles secure at all times when they are left unattended.

“It is also extremely important that people do not leave valuable items in their cars such as sat-navs - if you don’t want them stolen take them with you.”

Anyone with information for the police about the thefts should call the non-emergency number 101, quoting 116-S-300414.
