A MAN suffered serious leg injuries after a strimmer he was using exploded.

Ambulance crews were called to Withybed Lane, Inkberrow at about 3,25pm on Saturday.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews were called to a man who had become injured after an industrial strimmer had reportedly exploded causing shrapnel from the machinery to penetrate through his leg."

An ambulance, a community first responder and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham were dispatched to the scene.

“The man was treated for significant lower leg injuries at the scene," she said. "Ambulance crews administered pain relief and the man’s leg was splinted before he was conveyed via land ambulance to Alexandra Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
