AN urgent appeal for donations of beds and mattresses has been issued by an organisation which helps vulnerable people.

A spokesperson from Second Chance Furnishings said there was a risk people would end up sleeping on the floor if they could not fulfil a recent surge in demand.

The not-for-profit social enterprise, based in Three Springs Trading Estate, Vincent Road, said it only had very limited stock of beds and mattresses left due to unprecedented demand.

A spokesman said: “We are seeing great demand for our service to vulnerable people, so much so that we have very limited stock left.

"Without donations from the public there is a real risk that vulnerable people will be sleeping on the floor.”

Second Chance Furnishings, now in its second year of trading, accept donations of good second hand furniture and re-sell to the public, with stock also being used in conjunction with charity St Paul’s Hostel to help homeless people that are being resettled into their own accommodation.

It also has a contract with Worcester City Council to provide furniture and white goods to people who have been moved into new accommodation including people fleeing domestic violence.

Anyone who can help supply beds or mattresses, which need to have fire regulation labels on them, should call 01905 360785 or email info@secondchancefurnishings.co.uk.
