A TEAM building trip was organised for pupils of one of Worcester's independent schools.
45 pupils from years 9-11 at the River School in Droitwich Road recently visited Christian youth centre, The Gaines Centre, in Whitbourne.
The young people spent their time helping with grounds and site maintenance, preparing for the centre’s busy activity season which takes place from spring onwards.
The project was part of the children’s personal character development programme, where they are learning about servant leadership.
Carol Parry, the school's headteacher said: “Our students gained a great deal from their day at the centre.
"Ensuring they get involved with their local communities and appreciating the importance of different environments for the benefit of others helps them understand how serving and leading work in today’s world.
"Team building and importantly, having fun were also high on the agenda.”
The day marked the end of an era for Year 11 pupils at the school before they went on exam leave.
Gaines is part of the wider ministry of CampXL – a registered charity – which runs events throughout the year during the school holidays including performing arts, sport, fashion, surfing, film making, skiing and go-karting.
