PUDDINGS were the only option on the menu at a fundraising evening organised for St Richard's Hospice and Acorns Children's Hospice.

The pudding extravaganza was organised by Pershore Inner Wheel at Peopleton Village Hall earlier this month and raised an impressive £1,000 for the two charities.

More than 80 members of the Pershore Inner Wheel and Rotary Clubs, along with friends, enjoyed an the evening of puddings and fun.

After a savoury starter, the 24 puddings offered stimulated the taste buds of the assembled group.

All the puddings were made by members of the Inner Wheel Club and during the evening six members recited amusing poems and readings about puddings.

Jan Crouch, president of Inner Wheel, said: "It really was a fun evening and it was excellent to raise so much money for these two local charities that play such a key role in our local community.

"The evening provided a great excuse to enjoy some delicious puddings and the readings were entertaining. My favourite was ‘Oh, I Wish I'd Looked After Me Teeth’ by Pam Ayres."
