TAKING on one of Taylor Swift's most famous songs may hopefully land one schoolgirl with a place in the finals of a national singing competition.

Gaila Morrison will be singing the American popstar's hit Love Story at The NEC Birmingham on Saturday during the TeenStar area finals.

If she wows the judges, the Northwick Manor Primary School pupil will make it to the grand final where she will have the chance to win £5,000 and other prizes including a slot at The Hop Farm Music Festival in Kent.

Gaila uses her middle name Iona when she performs and has already beaten off competition from 9,000 other people to land a place in the pre-teen category.

The Jessie J and Lily Allen fan said: "I'm really enjoying being in the competition.

"It's a great boost to my confidence and I'm learning not to be nervous and it also helps with my singing.

"I still get nervous sometimes but mostly before I go on stage then I'm fine when I begin."

The 11-year-old is a member of WODYS as well as Harlequin Stage School.

Gaila, from Claines, Worcester, impressed the judges with her rendition of Gabrielle Aplin's version of The Power Of Love at the regional finals.

Family members waved banners saying "Go Gaila!" and were delighted when the judges automatically put her through to the finals.

Her dad Frazer Morrison said: "She's always singing from morning to night from the moment she gets up until she goes to sleep.

"We're all very proud of her."
