A HAIRDRESSING apprentice from Worcester is up for a national award for her stylist snips.

Charlie Butterworth from Ronkswood is studying at The Hair Training Academy in Copenhagen Street and has been nominated for the National Apprenticeship Awards 2014.

The 18-year-old is just finishing an apprenticeship at Verve Hair Salon in Friar Street, where boss Anton Porter and his team have helped her develop her skills.

The teenager said she was "delighted" to be nominated.

Account manager at City of Wolverhampton College - which runs The Hair Training Academy - Rachele Watson described Charlie as "an excellent apprentice".

"We have seen her develop her skills and confidence thanks to her mature attitude," she said.

“Charlie has benefited from the three key elements of a successful apprenticeship - the right candidate, a good training provider and a work placement where the apprentice is valued and encouraged.

"We wish her well for the future.”

If Charlie makes it through the regional stage of the competition she will be invited to the national awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 13.
