A POPULAR vintage shop in Worcester is closing its doors in a bid to expand the business.

Second Hand Rose, which is based in the Hopmarket, has been selling vintage clothes and accessories for eight years in the city centre.

But owner Clare Bridge has decided now is the time to expand the online and mobile side of her business, which means shutting the premises.

Although she says Second Hand Rose will still be at the heart of Worcester's vintage scene.

"It'll be sad to close the doors after eight years but it means I can dedicate my time to selling online, have the flexibility to attend more events around the country and concentrate on new ventures," said Ms Bridge.

"We will still have lots of our affordable vintage items for sale online, we have lots of stock that is yet unseen by the public."

Over the years Ms Bridge has organised vintage events in Worcester and had a book published about vintage fashion and won awards for her window displays. She is also co-curating the much anticipated Summer exhibition at the City Museum and Art Gallery.

"We have Fancy Pants our big vintage fashion exhibition to look forward to, opening at on July 12, so we will still be very much at the heart of the vintage scene in Worcester.

"We will be attending more local events and will still be buying pre-1970s items if anyone is having a clear out, but it will be a positive change to become mobile and not to be tied to one place.

"We have lots of loyal customers who we want to thank for their support over the years, plus our Facebook and Twitter followers too. I hope people will continue to follow us online and keep in touch."

There's currently a half price sale on in the shop and the final day of trading will be Saturday, June 14.
