AN 11-year-old girl who collapsed at school following a suspected brain haemorrhage has died.
Poppy Allies collapsed in class at Cherry Orchard Primary School in Timberdine Close, Worcester, on Wednesday afternoon.
She was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where she remained on a life support machine, but sadly died yesterday.
In a tribute, Poppy - a pupil in year six - was described as “a quiet girl with the sweetest of personalities”.
Jeremy Harwood, head teacher at Cherry Orchard Primary School said: “I can confirm that sadly one of our pupils, Poppy Allies, aged 11, has died following her collapse on Wednesday afternoon.
“Poppy will stay long in the memories of all who knew her .
“She benefitted from the nurturing support of a loving family who are very much in our thoughts and prayers .
“She was a quiet girl with the sweetest of personalities.
"Cards left with flowers placed in the school’s woodland area pay tribute to her lovely shy smile, her caring nature and her thoughtfulness .
“She was a wonderful girl of whom any parent would, justifiably, be hugely proud.
“She will be very much missed.”
Since the news broke there has been an outpouring of grief and the girl’s family have been receiving messages of support.
The school opened its forest school area for people to leave flowers .
