A NEW face will be providing people in need with assistance at a debt counselling centre.

Dave Christmas will lead the Christians Against Poverty team based at All Saints Church, Deansway, Worcester, to help people escape overwhelming personal debts.

Mr Christmas will visit people in their homes, bringing them hope and reassurance face-to-face with the charity's award-winning non-judgemental service.

Mr Christmas said: “Knowing first-hand the needs that are out there, I really wanted to be part of the solution. CAP’s in-depth care and professionalism really does see lives transformed.”

“The great thing about CAP’s free service is that it is available to everyone – regardless of age, gender, faith or background. So, if you know things are out of control and you’re stressed, missing meals or sleep, please give me a ring on 0800 328 0006.”

The Worcester branch is one of 260 across the UK, giving face-to-face help to some of Britain’s most desperate and isolated people.

The majority of the people are trapped into debt by job loss, pay cuts, illness or relationship breakdown.

Mr Christmas used to work as paramedic and more recently as a support worker for a local housing association and became increasingly frustrated to see people getting more and more into debt, without really being able to help as he wanted.
