THE Sounds of Summer will be filling Holy Trinity Church at Link Top later this month when it holds its third festival of music.

The festival, held every two years, now attracts many local performers and, increasingly, those from further afield.

The festival opens on Friday, June 20, with a showcase concert featuring singers from Dyson Perrins Academy and the Northleigh and West Malvern primary schools, alongside the church's own junior choir. The concert starts at 7pm, and tickets, including refreshments, are £5 (under-18s free).

Saturday's music begins at 11 am with a composers' and performers' cafe. Coffee and light lunches will be served while composer Robin Davidson and young performers will perform some of his own works alongside works by Beethoven and Albinoni, among others.

From 2pm to 4pm, cream teas will be available, while Vocal Variations will sing music from Finian's Rainbow, The Mikado and Oliver.

Saturday night's gala concert starts at .7.30pm and is hosted by Malvern Male Voice Choir. Their guests are all graduates from York University and include mezzo-soprano Emma Lewis and clarinettist Hannah Raban. Making a welcome return is local pianist Thomas Nichol. Tickets cost £9 (under-18s £5), including refreshments.

And there will be three musical items on the menu for Sunday, starting with the church's main morning service at 10.30am.

Afternoon tea in the church hall will be accompanied by background music from 4pm, and an hour later, choral evensong in the church will be led by the Holy Trinity senior choir and visiting organist Paul Charman, bringing the festival to a close.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from Burley's Hairdressers, Worcester Road, or from 01684 567385. Any remaining tickets will be on sale at the door.

Proceeds from the event will go to the church roof repair fund.
