ADULTS who work with young children can benefit from a drop-in session in Worcester to teach them some life-saving paediatric first aid techniques.
The course is aimed at Early Years organisations such as child-minders, nurseries, after school clubs, playgroups, crèches and schools and designed to meet necessary requirements of OFSTED under the guidance issued by DfES.
The course will run at West Side Neighbourhood Watch at St Johns Youth and Community Centre,
Swanpool Walk, Worcester on Friday, June 13 between 10am to 5pm.
The training meets the requirements of the HSE and provides candidates with a valid certificate for three years. The course is delivered by a team of professional experienced trainers. The course includes reporting accidents and illness, first aid boxes and their use, an introduction to first aid in childcare settings, dealing with an unconscious casualty, resuscitation and CPR for children and babies, choking, epileptic fit, anaphylactic (allergy) and shock, medical conditions like asthma, diabetes and sickle cell, bleeding including nose bleeds, fractures, back, neck and head injuries,
febrile convulsions, heat and cold injuries, burns and scalds, poisoning, bites and stings.
The course lasts a day and it costs £50 with certificate and £15 for a non-certificate.
