DANCERS are needed to join a project exploring the lives and changing roles of women during the First World War.
Dancefest, the county's dance agency, has been commissioned by Redditch, Bromsgrove and Wyre Forest District councils to create a performance for their centenary events.
Two of Dancefest’s groups, Dancefest Creatives and DFA, will be working with choreographer Marie Oldaker to create a piece based on the lives and the changing roles of women as they discovered a new sense of purpose and liberation, despite enduring hardship and loss.
Dancefest Creatives is for people aged 18 and over and is an open group for anybody who is interested in dance, choreography and performance.
No performance experience is necessary, just a passion for movement and the willingness to be creative.
DFA is a performance group for dancers aged 20 and over who have strong contemporary technique, are used to working creatively and have a sense of adventure.
The rehearsals will take place at weekends, starting on Sunday, June 22 and Sunday, July 27 with the first performance set to take place at Kidderminster Arts Festival on Saturday, August 23.
The cost is £60/£48 concessions for Dancefest Creatives and £15 for DFA.
Anyone interested in joining either of the groups or would like more information should contact Dancefest on 01905 611199, info@dancefest.co.uk or dancefest.co.uk.
