A MAN was left with a broken cheekbone and four broken teeth after he and two friends were attacked by youths wielding glass bottles in a Worcester park.

The three men, aged 33, 30 and 29, were walking through Lansdowne Park in Lansdowne Road at 11.10pm on Friday, June 6 when they were set upon by a large group of young men aged between 15 and 18 after stopping to speak to a young boy.

The 30-year-old suffered a broken cheekbone, four broken teeth and cuts and bruises to the face and body as well as grazes. He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The other two suffered cuts and grazes and fled the scene.

It is believed a group of young girls was nearby at the time of the attack.

A West Mercia Police spokesman described it as “a very serious unprovoked attack”.

“One of the men received some very nasty injuries and it could have been a lot worse if they hadn’t made their escape,” he said.

“We are appealing for witnesses who saw the attack or a large group of youths in the Lansdown or Arboretum areas either before of after this attack took place to contact us.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who knows who they are or has information that could lead to us identifying them.”
