A SEVENTIES rock band with attitude are staging a revival as part of the 45-year-old Bromyard Gala.

Poverty Corner return to their base in the town having toured throughout the UK and Germany during the 1970s for the Gala Queen Dance on Friday, June 27 at the new gala field at Avenbury, near Munderfield, just outside the town.

Following their successes, the band members were in demand for major live and studio performances with renowned performers such as the excellent Steve Gibbons and Mott the Hoople's keyboard maestro, Verden Allen.

Vocalist Steve Palmer said: "The gala has always been a major event in our lives, so we're getting back off the rails to rock the night away at the Gala Queen Dance, which takes place this year for the very first time as part of a new programme of gala fringe events.

"We intend to pack the place out - all profits go to help fund the gala itself."

The band are currently updating their impressive repertoire and rehearsing their many classic arrangements of hits by the Doobie Brothers, Aerosmith, Free, the Rolling Stones and the Who among others.

Tickets are £7.50 in advance on 01885 488510 or from Bromyard Live in Broad Street and £10 on the door.
