TOIL and trouble will be in the air at Hartlebury Castle during a production of Shakespeare's Macbeth on Friday, June 27.
Following the successful performance of Romeo and Juliet last year, Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust will welcome back Heartbreak Productions.
Marking the centenary of World War One, the adaptation is set in a rehabilitative hospital in 1919.
A group of shell-shocked soldiers perform the haunting tale of Macbeth to ensure the atrocities of war are never forgotten.
The production is particularly relevant to Hartlebury Castle as its stable block was converted to a Red Cross VAD Convalescent Hospital for soldiers during World War One.
Jacqui Watson, vice chair for the Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust, said: "It is lovely to be hosting another performance by Heartbreak Productions.
"Hartlebury Castle is a stunning backdrop and their adaptation of Macbeth fits in perfectly with our building's history.”
The performance will take place outside in the castle's carriage circle.
Doors open at 6.30pm and the performance begins at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £13 for adults and £7 for concessions and a seating area can be reserved before the day for £5.
