BRAZIL trounced Italy 3-0 on Monday evening to be named World Cup 2014 champions.

But Balotelli, Oscar and Ramires were nowhere to be seen on Pitchcroft as members of Worcester’s Monday Night Club strapped on their boots for a five-a-side tournament.

The group, a social club for adults with learning disabilities and forms of autism, kicked off Learning Disability Week on June 16 with the event.

Members also brought along their favourite cuddly friends to cheer on the players and enjoy a teddy bear’s picnic during the games.

The tournament saw Spain do better than they have in Brazil by reaching the quarter-finals while England went out in the semis.

The Monday Night Club, which meets at the Barbourne Ex-Servicemens Club in The Moors every Monday evening, was set up by Laura Gill, who herself has autism and learning difficulties, after she realised there was nowhere for her and people like her to meet and make new friends.
