THE team of volunteers behind this year's West Fest are hoping even more people support the community event.

A day of live music, dancing and merriment will fill West Malvern playing field from 11.30am to 10pm on Saturday, July 5, with the finishing touches being made to the varied line-up of entertainment.

Fifteen bands will be split across the main and acoustic stages, with 10 other acts, such as the Chase Jazz Band, Malvern Cube and West Malvern Voices will feature on the Andy Dakin Diversity stage, followed by the return of the silent disco.

Tony Poyner, of the festival committee, said: "The committee are looking forward to this year’s event after the great success of 2013 - it makes all the hard work worthwhile so we are going to make 2014 a terrific event, with even more money going to local community groups and charities.

"We are hoping the attendance will beat the 2,500 who attend last year.”

The main stage welcomes Black Heart Angels, Boy and Bicycle, Clumsy, Hump da Bump, the Matt Woosey Band and Miss Pearl & the Rough Diamonds.

While the acoustic stage will house headliners Truck Stop Trixies along with Appleby Kinsey, Flatworld, Hennesea, Lounge Toad, Malvern Hillbillies and the Ray Mytton Band.

Children can make the most of inflatable games, a bouncy castle and slides along with face painting, hair braiding and crazy golf.

The arts and crafts marquee will exhibit work from talented local artists and a selection of local caterers, plus teas and cakes should keep people fed and watered.
