PUPILS at a Worcester primary school got to go on their own African safari last week - complete with exotic wildlife.

Years five and six at Red Hill C of E Primary School in Midhurst Close were paid a visit by Dave Evans and Rob Berwick from Staffordshire-based The Animal Man, who brought with them a host of creatures for pupils to get up a close with.

Among the animals were a tarantula called Miss Fluffy, a coatis - a type of raccoon - called Ozzie, a rescue fox, two African snakes, a variety of lizards.

Year five teacher Charlotte Foy said: "The children had a fantastic afternoon getting to know the animals and learning about how they adapt and survive in their different environments," she said.

"The animals were very friendly and enjoyed the attention they received from the children."
