FOOTBALL players and a team of volunteers will be swapping their boots for paint brushes to spruce up their home stadium.

Malvern Town Football Club's directors Chris Pinder and Ted Grizzell are investing an initial £15,000, which includes a £1,800 grant from Sport England, to replace the changing room roof at Langland Stadium as well as re-painting and cladding buildings to improve the look and feel of the club.

The work starts on Thursday (June 26) and carry on until Sunday (June 29), with a secret project for the fans is also being constructed in time for the start of the season.

The club's managing director, Chris Pinder, said: "The club is looking to continually improve the facilities for supporters and players, making it a nicer place to play at and visit.

"We need to maximise every penny in the pound, which means relying on volunteers for their skills, time and expertise.

"Luckily a lot of players and supporters are tradesman who are happy to give up their time, so we should be able to achieve a large number of improvements within our budget."
