A CITY shop has played host to an unusual visitor.
Curiouser and Curiouser, a jewellery and artwork shop in Worcester’s Cathedral Plaza, hosted Mr B, a bumblebee toy that is travelling around the UK to raise awareness of Behçet’s disease, which results from disturbances in the body’s immune system.
Fran Horne, 38, store co-proprietor, has lived with the disease for more than 20 years and has received support from the Behçet’s Syndrome Society.
“Behçet’s has affected me significantly. I’ve had so many hospital admissions, I’ve lost count,” she said.
“Last year I spent several months in hospital as it caused a bleed in my brain. I also have a pacemaker, and use a walking stick and occasionally my wheelchair.”
Shop co-owner Toft Laski, 37, has raised £175 for the society by giving up alcohol for a month, and the store has raised £200 to date.
